Traffic

Just saw Traffic... I have to say that this movie's going to stick with me. It really hit home, and I'm sure that many people who saw the film were touched by it, because we've all had experience with drugs and addiction. The beautiful part about the film is the shroud of despair that just coats everything. It's very honest, it makes no excuses, and I think that it really opens people's eyes...you know some people see a dealer on the corner and they think "oh, supplier", but really it goes way back. It's a network, and that is the way that this movie depicts it.

I have to say...Benicio del Toro...wow. I'm speechless.

Johnny Depp, Jude Law, Colin Farrell

What do those three have in common? They were all in The Imaginarium of Doctor Parnassus.

And they rocked it.

Plus, they donated the money they made from the movie to Heath Ledger's daughter, Matilda Rose, who wasn't around at the time that Ledger wrote his will.

The Koi Fish

The koi fish is so damn popular. You go to the tattoo guy, you say you want a fish, and he automatically thinks, "oh, koi fish. Gotcha." But why is the koi fish so popular? Looks like any other regular fish to me. It's got scales, it's go gills, why don't people get tattoos of trout? They're a pretty good fish, right? Or a mahi mahi! It's a good, expensive fish! Look at that forehead! Why give the koi all the attention? We've got to distribute the popularity evenly among the fish population, people. Can't have that favoritism here.

I don't understand why people are seen wearing work out cloths at clothing stores. Take me at Kohl's today. I saw this woman in complete gym wear. What? You came here right after going to the gym? You didn't have the decency to go home to take a shower and change your clothes first?

Painting

My grandmother is an artist, and when we were little she used to give us lessons in painting.

I hated it.

I liked to draw, but I absolutely detested painting. I remember standing in the living room, the plastic was spread on the carpet, and our easels were up; it was my cousin, my sister, my grandmother, and I. The window would be open to let in the light. She would sit and paint, wearing her glasses and tilting her head upward as she added those gentle, delicate, magical strokes of paint. My sister and my cousin would be absorbed in their paintings. I could only stand there in frustration, wonder what the hell was the matter with me and why I just couldn't get it right. In the end I would blow up and storm off in a fit of frustration, after having smudged the canvas with paint. I didn't paint much after that.

Until I digitized, that is.

Now, I paint in Photoshop. It's like a whole new magical world just opened up to, filled with opportunity for creativity and expression. Hopefully, painting in Photoshop will help me when I try my hand at oil again. It's not the same; in Photoshop, if you make a horrible mistake, you can just undo. If you want to pick up a color, just hold the alt key. However, all of these things you can do with paints as well...it just takes more time. Maybe that's my problem, maybe I'm just too damn impatient. Here's a screenshot of what I'm working on right now-

Google Search

What the fuck happened to Google? Google used to be my preferred search engine...but it really SUCKS now. Every time I search something, I'll click on a link and it'll take me to some ad instead of the page that I wanted to see. It looks like it's been taken over. We've had good times, Google Search, but I think that our relationship is coming to an end. You've changed for the worse and I don't think that I can keep this up much longer. It's time for us to say goodbye.

Goodbye, Google Search.

Lay off Obama.

It's so amazing to me how quickly the public became disenchanted with our President. You call him a thief, you call him a liar, you call him a traitor.

Have you taken a look at yourselves?

You, who rallied for him during the election. You, who elected him to be president. You gave him the support he needed to be elected.

And now you have left him in the dirt, spat in his face, and used him as a scape goat.

YOU are the ones that gave him false hope.
YOU are the ones that got him into this mess!
YOU are the ones that lead him on.

Where is your support now? Where are your buttons, the t-shirts, the bumper stickers? Are you so ashamed that you would turn your back on the man that YOU chose?

YOU are making our President's job very difficult. People who do not want to be helped, cannot be. He's doing the best he can with the MESS of a country that was dumped into his hands.

Now is NOT the time to be an individual. Now is the time to band together and stand as a nation.

Stand by the president that YOU, the people, have chosen.
